Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) has donated MK1.2 million to Think Pink Malawi.

MASM Central Region Branch Manager, Bernard Ambali, said MASM wants to reach out to many cancer patients hence the donation.

“As you are aware, October is cancer awareness month so when we were approached by Think Pink Malawi we decided to help them as they are doing a good job in reaching out to people in rural areas where people do not have means of being screened," he said.

In her remarks, founder of Think Pink, Blandina Khondowe, said the country should have enough equipment for cancer treatment.

“We want everyone to have access to health care. The taxes we pay to govemment should be used to improve delivery of health care in the country. Only few people are taken abroad for treatment but we want everyone to have access to medical services,” she said.

She further said the donation will boost operations of Think Pink Malawi.

“We are reaching out to people on the importance of going for cancer screening including people in remote areas. This means we are raising awareness on cancer to a larger community. The donation will help us in the promotion of raising awareness on the importance of early detection of cancer,” she said.
